Testing Kits

Well Water Test Kits

Well water test kits are available for pick up at Burnett County DHHS. Fees will be charged to the customer by the Wisconsin State Lab depending on what tests are requested. Well water test kits are also available at community locations, fees vary. There are various locations that test kits can be obtained. This is one possible source for finding a test kit. In addition, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) provides guidance (PDF) on tests that should occur for private wells and when those tests should occur.

Once you test your well, use ATSDR and Wisconsin DNR websites to find out more about your results. In addition, separated out are iron (PDF) and molybdenum (PDF), since they are not included on either of those sites. Radon Testing

Radon test kits are available for pick up at Burnett County DHHS, fees apply. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also offers a guide for additional information about radon.

Enforcement

Rabies Control Program via Animal Bite Investigations

This department enforces Wisconsin State Statute 95.21 for animal bites. If a bite occurs and the animal is not current on their rabies vaccination, a 10 day quarantine at the vet is required. If the animal is current on their Rabies Vaccination, a home quarantine with three vet checks over a 10 day period is required.

Please note: Both types of quarantines are at the owner's expense.

This department investigates human health hazards per Wisconsin State Statute Chapter 254. 

Mold

This department provides information on mold cleanup. You can find Mold Information, Mold Cleanup, and Mold Contractors on the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Website. 

Head Lice

Head lice can be a frustrating nuisance, but is not considered a threat to public health nor a communicable disease. This department does not provide checks or treatment, but instead provides information and resources to assist your family. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides resources and guidance for your family and for schools.

Carbon Monoxide Information

Carbon Monoxide is a gas that can't be seen or smelled. It is the most common cause of fatal poisonings. However, there are preventative measures that can be taken.
